Global city as an actor of sustainable development: the case of Shanghai

In this investigation the authors explore problems of spatial development and functioning agglomeration formations, as well transformation complication structure urban areas, expanding understanding urbanized residential areas from point view life support society modern economy. On example case Shanghai, one largest centers population economic resources concentration in China, achievement status a global city is considered through prism participation implementation Sustainable Development Goals. Related are also identified that require solutions to be found process planning. The prospect reaching 34 million by 2050 necessitates Shanghai into an innovative with high quality life, for which authorities striving adapt international trends both socio-economic environmental view. paper discusses prospects optimized use territory, “three spaces” (environmental, agricultural urban).
